<p> This firmware was released late August 31, 2009 to the masses and has received mixed reactions so far. It includes a revamped &#8220;What&#8217;s New&#8221; section, a brand new &#8220;tiled&#8221; interface, a new status area, a revamped friends list, and support for dynamic/animated themes. Most of the changes are visual and cosmetic, but I believe the new tiled interface should be spread throughout the entire interface. On the downside, I believe the friends list changes stick out like a sore thumb. They don&#8217;t match the look and feel of the rest of XMB. Overall, firmware 3.0 takes the Playstation 3 another step closer to the ultimate experience. There are some other obstacles to overcome, but they are certainly attainable. Congratulations Sony on a successful release.</p>

<div class="blip_description" style="">In this video, I provide a quick bulletin for iPhone and iPod Touch users who have jailbroken or unlocked their devices to WAIT on updating to 2.2.1.  The iPhone Dev Team has stated there is reason to believe this update will break yell0wsn0w (iPhone 3G unlock)  There is also no guarantee, you&#8217;ll be able to jailbreak again after updating until the dev team releases a fix.   Generally, if you have jailbroken or unlocked your iPhone, you should never update to the latest firmware on the day of the release.   You should always wait for conformation from the developers of the software that jailbroke or unlocked your device.  This is the world of jailbreaking and unlocking, you have to be patient, or you&#8217;ll find yourself stuck.  Enjoy.</div>

<div class="blip_description">In this video, I give a brief description of the popular features that have been added as a result of iPhone OS 2.2 firmware update.  As we all know, the firmware adds Google Street View to the Google Maps application which allows one to zoom down to a street level view of a location.  It also makes use of Google Transit to get public transit routes right on your iPhone.  With 2.2, you can also download podcasts directly from your iPhone instead of syncing with iTunes.  Some things you may not know include security updates that 2.2 fixes:  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3318  There are several security fixes that address issues such as visiting a maliciously crafted TIFF image that could reset your iPhone!!  Wow!  Visit the link above to get more information about the security fixes.  Jailbreaking may not be a good reason to stick with 2.1 as I had no idea these security flaws were present.  If you&#8217;re holding off on updating, I highly suggest you consider these security fixes prior to making your final decision.  Enjoy.</div>

<div class="blip_description">In this video, I give my thoughts on Apple&#8217;s latest software revision of the iPhone dubbed version 2.1.  At the Sept 9th event, Steve Jobs touted this update as being &#8220;huge&#8221; and promised it would address all of our concerns including:  application crashing/hanging, dropped calls, poor battery life, system slowness, long backup times, and the like.  Over the past 3 days, I&#8217;ve been using my iPhone with the 2.1 software for quite a bit, and I must say, I believe Steve kept his word.  Some of the areas I noticed the most were backup times, 3rd party application stability, 3rd party application installation speed, overall stability, and overall speed.  This update also brought the &#8220;Genius&#8221; feature to the iPhone which allows one to generate &#8220;super smart&#8221; playlists based a certain song.  Genius has been hit or miss for me, but generally, it does a decent job.  My personal playlists will always be better in my opinion.  So overall, if you are a user of the 2.0 software on the iPhone, I highly recommend you upgrade immediately.  This update fixes a lot of issues that I think you could benefit from.  Enjoy!</div>
