This port of this old school title was brought to the iPhone a few months ago and I’ve been getting my fingers dirty playing it. The controls take a bit to get used to, but overall it’s pretty good. The graphics and sound are acceptable as well. There’s not much wrong with this port and if you love Final Fantasy, I think it’s worth the $8.99 price tag SquareEnix wants for it. Search for Final Fantasy in the iTunes App Store to purchase it.

This app allows one to view live video streams from the popular streaming site, justin.tv. I utilize justin.tv to do my high quality streaming and was happy to see an iPhone app finally come! There are great features to interact with your favorite justin.tv stream which includes a nifty chat bubble which updates as people talk in the chat. Specifically I’m going to focus on latency in first person shooter video games: MAG and Modern Warfare 2. The whole idea behind latency and lag is that you want to minimize it as much as possible. The more latency present, the more out of sync players will be with the action. First person shooters require precise timing and aiming so it can be very frustrating when you shoot at someone and they’re not actually there. Check out the video on more on this topic

In this video, I review a game from Titan Studios called Fat Princess. The title will make sense after you watch the video. Fat Princess is an online enabled multiplayer game which consists of many different classes. There are many game modes which range from Saving the princess, to King of the hill. You and your team must use strategy and teamwork to accomplish the goal. It’s a cute looking game, but has a good deal of violence and gore. The game was plagued with connectivity issues at launch which hopefully will be addressed fully. Fat Princess is available on Playstation Network for $15. Enjoy the review.

I’m a big fan of renting video games, and I’ve done it since I was a teenager. I have recently used Gamefly but it was the victim of a budget adjustment in my household and I had to drop it. I think game rentals are a good way to “try before you buy” games that you may want to own. I don’t think it should serve as a primary way of playing games since you may want to own games for an extended period of time. Rentals definitely have their benefits and I’m probably going to go back to renting soon. The key to getting value out of renting is that you need to be consistent with using the service. If you go months without renting new titles, you’re wasting your money. Thanks for the question, jrblaze.
