The name of the app is called WootWatch and it’s primary purpose is to show you the latest item on woot.com. It’s great for those “woot-offs” where woot sells many discounted items per day. This is great way to order food from your local Chipotle chain from your iPhone. The program can find locations of Chipotles for you and gives you a nice visual overview of their offerings. I read an article on Electronista which claims the current low sales of Android apps are an issue and also their accompanying “odd rules”. The article points out the huge gap between the top 5 apps sales figures for iTunes Apps and all of Android’s apps combined. These two companies are going head to head regarding their latest phone models: The Palm Pre and the iPhone 3GS. Palm has done something controversal in that they are using a illegal technique to synchronize the Palm Pre with iTunes. Palm makes the Palm Pre pose as an iPod to get “better” functionality than other companies who synchronize with iTunes (via XML file) Apple has patched iTunes to fix the vulnerability that Palm exploited to do this, and Palm has come back and found another way. This back and forth has started a war between the two companies. Check out the video for my thoughts.

What I did was I first backed up my iTunes library to backup folder. I then told iTunes to use a new location for the library. When you do this, you must tell iTunes to automatically keep your library organized. This little trick has worked for me so far and I haven’t had any issues. Galaktagon has very simple gameplay. The purpose of the game is to destroy alien ships and avoid their fire. It’s old school look and feel are a great throwback to those days where we spent hundreds of dollars in arcades. This game is perfect for casual gamers who like simple gameplay and old school 8-bit music You use one finger to touch and move your ship and tap the screen to fire. I found the controls to be a bit awkward at first since you can’t move and shoot at the same time. I found that if you use two fingers, it’s a little bit better but I don’t know if I can do very well on the higher levels. Quake Info gives the most recent earthquake information around the world and closest to you with a couple of taps. The interface is fairly simple: it provides a list of the most recent earthquakes with the corresponding rating. When you drill down to an individual earthquake, it shows a map location, coordinates and summary information. You can then drill down again to the USGS earthquake information right from the application. A very cool feature of the application is that it utilizes the GPS chip in the iPhone which pinpoints the closest earthquakes to you. I learned that there were earthquakes in Alabama! Wow! If you are in an area that has frequent earthquakes or if you’re curious as to the location of earthquakes around the world, Quake Info is a great application for you.
