They have opened the doors to the general public to develop on the webOS platform. Palm is offering a great selection of options for developers to choose from. They can choose a $99 annual “full” account (fee waived for a limited time) or choose free options. Palm’s distribution differs from Apple in that they are allowing developers to use their own URL. Galaktagon has very simple gameplay. The purpose of the game is to destroy alien ships and avoid their fire. It’s old school look and feel are a great throwback to those days where we spent hundreds of dollars in arcades. This game is perfect for casual gamers who like simple gameplay and old school 8-bit music You use one finger to touch and move your ship and tap the screen to fire. I found the controls to be a bit awkward at first since you can’t move and shoot at the same time. I found that if you use two fingers, it’s a little bit better but I don’t know if I can do very well on the higher levels. Quake Info gives the most recent earthquake information around the world and closest to you with a couple of taps. The interface is fairly simple: it provides a list of the most recent earthquakes with the corresponding rating. When you drill down to an individual earthquake, it shows a map location, coordinates and summary information. You can then drill down again to the USGS earthquake information right from the application. A very cool feature of the application is that it utilizes the GPS chip in the iPhone which pinpoints the closest earthquakes to you. I learned that there were earthquakes in Alabama! Wow! If you are in an area that has frequent earthquakes or if you’re curious as to the location of earthquakes around the world, Quake Info is a great application for you. In this video, I discuss a great application which allows you to have your email read aloud.  The application is called Talk Mail Pro and is available for $9.99 on the iTunes App Store.  Talk Mail Pro works with any IMAP email account, but if you have an AOL or Gmail account, the application has preconfigured settings.  The application supports basic tap gestures such as: Double tap to archive, and triple tap to delete. You can also adjust the voice speed and pitch.  The application comes with 12 months of service or you can purchase the lite edition for $1.99 which comes with 2 months of service.  Enjoy.

In this video, I talk about ReTweet.  This application is used in conjunction with Twitter on the iPhone.  ReTweet is a phenomenom on Twitter which reposts interesting tweets.  You can think of it as an email forward.  I explain how easy it is to use and get started with the application.  I also discuss how the application was free during a promotion that ended on March 30, 2009.  The price for the application has not been released but I will inform everyone once they update the price.  Enjoy!

In this video, I discuss a free iPhone app from the guys at Boxee.tv.  I’ve discussed Boxee before on Bwana.TV and I can’t help but say good things about it.  This mobile app, turns your iPhone or iPod Touch into a nifty remote control for the Boxee application.  It has two modes:  The first is a classic button mode, and the second is a gesture mode, which I think is insanely cool.  Here’s what Boxee says about Gesture mode: “When in Gesture Mode hold your thumb down and drag the boxee logo around to move up/down/right/left.  Drag it to the edge of the screenand hold it there to navigate long lists.  Click [Tap] on the boxee logo to perform an action.”  You’ll see this in action in the video, I can only come up with the word: cool.  Enjoy!

In this video, I review a game called LightBike for iPhone and iPod Touch.  It is available for $0.99 for a limited time but has a regular price of $2.99.  LightBike supports 1 or 2 players on a single device or Wifi mode on multiple devices on a LAN.  The folks behind LightBike claim that they will be bringing internet support soon.  Controls are fairly simple for LightBike:  You tap the left and right sides of the screen to move in either direction and you tap the middle of the screen to accelerate.  The gameplay is responsive and works as advertised.  I can imagine a really fun experience once internet play is added.  I recommend LightBike for all you TRON fans, but it can also be a great experience for those who have never heard of TRON.  Take care!

In this video, I give a quick review of iShoot which is available on the iTunes App Store for $2.99. (I say $1.99 in the video, but it was for a limited time)  iShoot is a “worms” like game where you position your tanks and attempt to kill your opponents in a turn-based match.  As you progress through rounds, you are awarded money based on your performance to purchase more destructive weapons.  I tried iShoot Lite for a while, but was able to purchase the full version thanks to a donation from Jonathan Stettin.  I highly recommend iShoot and I haven’t even played the multiplayer yet!  I’m having a blast with the single player.  Check it out!
